L AT ON I A9 S GREA TEST MEETING IMMENSE SUM OF 425552 DISTRIBUTED AMONG SUC ¬ CESSFUL HORSEMEN H P WHITNEY TAKES LIONS SHARE HIS HORSES WINNING 44346 Great meetings have been held at Fair Latonia in the past but none that ever approached in brilliancy and grandeur the one that closed Saturday Beginning on June 5 the meeting continued for thirtyone racing days during which time 217 races were run and the immense sum of 425552 was distributed in stakes and purses the daily average distribution amounting to 13727 The attendance was even larger than the most roseate expectations of the management while on holidays Saturdays and special feature days the plant was inadequate to accommodate the crowds Some of the best horses in the country stars of the East and West were seen under colors at different times and the sport was high class clean and unattended by any unsavory incidents U P Whitney was well repaid for shipping a number of his star racers to Latonia ns they re ¬ turned East with winnings of 44340 to their credit As a result of their success Mr Whitney heads the list of the winning owners participating in the meeting of which suven won over 10000 each and the following 900 or more each each0yner 0yner 1st 2d 3d Amt AmtWhitney Whitney H P 4 3 i 14340 14340Bradley Bradley E R S 0 3 21709 21709Thravos Thravos W V i 5 3 20874 20874McLean McLean E B S 9 S 18571
