NEW ORLEANS RACING TO PROSPER WINDSOR Out July lilt Advices received here from n person closely in touch with the situation at New Orleans indicate that racing will prosper i there next winter Governor John M Parker is re ¬ ported to he still favorable to the conduct of rac ¬ ing on a high plane 15etting will be continued as in the past Purses at the Fair Grounds will be tin same as last Winter namely three 700 three 800 and one 1000 purse daily with the probability of three or four 5000 stakes spread over the winter program It is rumored that a raise in purses will be made at Jefferson Park No dates have beqn set yet but it is probable that the opening will bo staged at Jefferson Park on Thanksgiving day and at the Fair Grounds New Years day There is little chance of a second meeting being held at Jefferson Park in the spring since sentiment is strongly against racing in Lent
