Start good and slow for all but LORD BRIGHTON. Won driving; second and third the same. DUNBOYNE was under slight restraint and saved ground on the turns in the early running, then closed up rapidly in the stretch and, taking the lead, outstayed STAR MASTER in the final drive. STAR MASTER raced forwardly throughout and made a wide turn when entering the stretch, losing ground, then closed up gamely Avhen straightened out and outfihished CRANK. The latter, away slowly, gained steadily and finished fast, but was forced to race extremely wide on the turns. LION DOR displayed his usual great early speed and raced HIGH COST into defeat, but tired in the last eighth. LORD BRIGHTON, almost left, closed a big gap and ran a good race. WILD THOUGHTS began forwardly and was hard ridden, but tired in the last eighth. SALESMAN ran fairly well. The winner, entered for ,500, was bid up to ,000 and bought by E. Hcrz. BEST PAL rushed into the lead quickly, repeatedly withstood challenges from MAD HATTER in the first mile and drew away in the stretch, but tired in the last sixteenth and just lasted long enouhg to withstand BELLSOLAIlS challenge. The latter, under restraint in the early running, closed up steadily when called on and was wearing the leader down In the closing strides. MAD HATTER was hard ridden to keep up in the early running and tired in the last eighth. TRANSLATE saved ground on all the turns and finished gamely. SAILOR had no mishaps. PADDY DEAR was hard ridden throughout und gained steadily in the last quarter, but could never get to tho winner. GREAT GULL saved ground on the stretch turn and passed HOOSOH in the last eighth. The latter finished fast and gamely and would have won in another stride. ATALA moved up menacingly on the stretch turn, but gave way in the final drive. TIDINGS raced gamely, but could never iinnrove her position. JAMAICA . BELLE run poorly. NIMBLE FOOT quit badly after going well for a half mile. CHATEAU THIERRY wag extremely high la flesb,
