GALLANT EXTERMINATOR Adds George Hendrie Memorial Handicap to His Successes. Carries 131 Pounds to an Impressive Victory Over Wildair and Other Crack Racers. WINDSOR, Ont., August 28. Gallant Exterminator added to liis fame and long list of victories by capturing the George M. Hendrie Memorial Handicap, the feature of the closing day at Windsor. Wildair was second. My Dear, this lightly weighted filly from the stable of F. Musante, outlasted the tiring Dr. Clark for the third portion of the stakes. Irish Kiss and Estero completed the field. Jockey Fairbrother rode a perfect nice on the victorious son of McGee Fair Empress and won by a length, going away after having outgeneraled both Coltilctti on Wildair and Buxton on Dr. Clark. Dr. Clark was first to leave the barrier on the mile and a sixteenth journey and raced in command to the first turn under restraint. Ex-temitmtor raced to the first turn in third position in a pocket behind Dr. Clark and on the inside of Wildair. In the backstretcli Dr. Clark was taken back from the lead, surrendering it to his stable-s mate, while Exterminator galloped along with Fairbrother standing up in his stirrups. After rounding into the stretch Exterminator was called upon and responding gamely under his impost of 131 pounds drcwaway to win in the time of 1:441s, two-fifths of a second slower than the track record made by Great Britain as :i four-year-old with 112 pounds up. Exterminator -vas made favorite bv an immense gathering which assembled for the closing of the Windsojv.Jockey- Club meeting. The value of the cvefit to the winner was ,490 and the winning carried with it for one year the possession of the challenge cup presented in memory of the lale George Hendrie by his nephew, Col. William Hendrie. Dr. Hickman defeated a fast band in the handicap for all ages, the secondary attraction of the afternoon, leading home Carmandale and War Mask in a fast run race. Yorkist was the victor in the race for Canadian-bred horses, scoring in easy fashion. Books for the Havre de Grace meeting were distributed among the horsemen today. There will be seventeen days of racing at the Maryland course, beginning September 11 and ending September 30. C. J. Fitz Gerald and Captain Ital Parr will serve as stewards. James Milton will do the starting and M. Nathanson is racing secretary. Samuel N. Holman is an arrival in the interests of the thirteen days running race meeting carded for Chagrin Falls, Cleveland, Ohio, September 18 to October 2. Charles F. Price, presiding steward of the Windsor meeting, leaves for Louisville tonight. J. B. Campbell, associate steward, goes to Ottawa to serve in an official capacity in the stand there nnd Francis Nelson, steward representing the Canadian Kacing Associations, also acts at Ottawa.
