J K L ROSS NEW TRAINER Montreal Turfman Signs Henry McDaniel to Take Charge of His Great Stable NEW YORK X Y April 15 Henry McDaniel lias signed a contract to train for J K L Ross and will take the latters horses over at once It is reliably reported that the retainer is the largest ever contracted for in this country countryThin Thin effectually clears uy the entire controversy over the retention of H Bedwell by Ross and incidentally removes any cause for friction between tlie Jockey Club and the Maryland Racing Commis ¬ sion Henry McDaniel who comes from the famous MiDaniel family of horsemen is one if the ablest trainers iu the country and has been actively identi ¬ fied with the thoroughbreds for over twentyfive years In tlie late nineties he was associated with the late George C Bennett of Memphis and devel ¬ oped many then famous racers In recent years he is best known as tiie developer of Sun Briar and Exterminator the two stars of W S Kilmers stable stableLast Last fall McDaniel was slated to take charge of I he Maeomlter horses in Franco but the tentative diml fell through McDaniel deciding that lit would be more at home among the horses and men he was intimately acquainted with withWith With the Ross horses he will have an exceptional opportunity to show his ability as the stable is welt fortified with thoroughbreds of all ages
