STEEPLECHASE FOR AMATEURS ONLY NEW YORK N Y May 11 Announcement is made by the United Hunts Association that one of the conditions governing the Between the Flags steeplechase at its meeting May 21 at Bclnion Park Terminal warrants this important fixture in being for gentleman riders only Tills Is an event which the amateurs are looking forward to with great anticipation and the most recent crop of simonpure of the riding world will be certain to have their work cut out for the rest which is over the three and a half miles of a post and rail course that is admitedly without an equal in America Joseph E Davis the wellknown sports ¬ man who races both on the flat and over the jumps will be the representative of the Hunts Committee of tiie National Steeplechase and Hunt Association at the meeting The stewards will be Henry W Bull and Harry S Page and the judges W L Powers and Frank J Bryan Frank T Clarke will wield the starters flag while Luke Cassidy wjll act as patrol judge
