KEMPTON PARK BEST RACE George C. Jr. Comes from Behind to Take the Feature Dash Gallantly. MONTREAL. Que., August 1. In the absence of a carded feature a race at a mile occupied the place of premier interest on the Kcmpton 1ark program, this afternoon. The race provided a stirring finish, with the well ridden George C- -lr. the winner. The latter was well back in the only running, but moved up with a rush when in the stretch, outraced the pacemakers and was going away at the end. Second Cousin showed a good turn of early speed, but was much used in setting the pace and barely lasted to withstand the rush of American Soldier. There was a sudden thirty-degree change in the weather, with the thermometer showing an overnight drop from blistering heat at !0 degrees to autumnal chill at 00. but the change did not discourage racegoers and the largest weekday crowd of the meeting was out.
