■ 1 NEW BELMONT PARK STABLES Those Destroyed by Fire to Be Replaced — Horses Begin to Work. NEW TOME, N. Y.. February 27.— Stables 2 and K» at Belmont Park, which were destroyed by fire several years ago, are to be rebuilt within a short time, aceording to present plans of the Westchester Racing Association. The fire which destroyed stable Pi in April. 1017. resulted in Ihe death of twenty horses, the property of the late Schuyler L. Parsons and II. K. Knapp. the fire was believed to have been of iu-eendiary origin. Nearly all of the stable room now available at Belmont Park has been assigned for the spring season and late applieanls lor rocm at the eourse will probably experience considerable difficulty in obtaining accommodations. Superintendent 11. I. Pels will start work oil the main course at onee. so that the traek will be in condition lor training work as soon as possible. Until the frost is out of the ground only the oul-side portion of the training track will be used for workouts. The first outside work of the year at Belmont Park occurred Friday afternoon, when trainer Thomas Welch gave several of his horses some exercise over the Iraining oval.
