The clubhouse was jammed with Havanas elite with a liberal sprinkling of American visitors of distinction. Many luncheon and dinner parties were given. The entertainments on the roof in the even-in » were particularly attractive, serving to climax the windtip of Havanas most successful meeting. Among the notables that thronged the clubhouse and balconies were: General Enoch Crowder, Ambassador Gonzales, the Italian. French and Japanese ministers. l S. Consul General Carlton Hurst. British Consul G. Haggard. Frank Seinhart. H. D. Brown. L. Quesad.i. J. M. Alleyn. Colonel Francisco M. Lufriu. Secretary of the Interio Bicardo Dolz and a number o Cuban senators and representatives. E. E. Major suffered the loss of one of his best racers when Petrarch ran into the inner fence near the eighth post while being galloped this morning. The horse sustained such serious injuries that he was destroyed. Jockey Prible was gailoping the horse at the time, but escaped with slight injuries. Petrarch was a four-year-old colt, by Sain or Free Laact — Mytilene, 1 red by George .1. Ixjng of the Baehfetd Manor Farm, near Ixiiisville. The horse was entered in the seventh race today and scratched.
