One of the stellar attractions of Kentucky spring racing is the Kentucky Oaks. It is for three-year-old fillies, with 0,000 added, and was patterned after the famous Epsom Oaks, the great filly race of England. The Kentucky Oaks has a history as old as the Kentucky Derby. Both were established 1875 and both will be run for the forty-eighth time this year. With few exceptions, practically all the best three-year-old fillies of each year are be found among the nominations to this popular spring fixture and this year is no exception. What glorious spectacle will be the sight of the peerless Miss Joy, Startle. Fair Phantom, Gentility, Jeanne Bowdre. I.ady Astor, Second Thoughts. Calamity Jane. Lady Baltimore and Dream of Allah parading to the post in the Kentucky Oaks to the thousands that will journey to Churchill Downs to see the decision of this noted race. Such may be the treat in store for patrons of Kentucky racing, all of the above-mentioned, in addition to others good quality, are eligible to strive for the rich prize. Here are the conditions for and the nominations to the Kentucky Oaks: THE KENTITKY OAKS— 0,000 added. For three-year-old fillies. By subscription of 0 each: JfJLOO additional to start: 0,000 added, of which ,500 to second. to third, fourth to save stake. Non-winners of a three-year-old race of the value of |2,500 allowed 5 pounds: maidens, 11 pounds. Acceptances to be named through the entry box the day before the race at usual time of closing.
