ANNUAL ENDURANCE RACE This Years 300-Mile Contest to Be Held Entirely Within the State of Vermont. M RL1NGTON, Vt.. April 7— The 300-mile en durance test for horses, which has been held every fall since 1918, will be entirely within the State of Vermont this year. This announcement was made today on behalf of the board of spousors. Last year the ride was from Camp Vail. N. J., to Washington. D. C, with the finish at the Washington monument. This year the riders will start from this city on Monday, October 16, and will end here on Friday evening. October 20. Details of the route to be followed will be arranged by the judges later While there have been some changes In the rules they are generally the same as last year. The horses will cover sixty miles a day for five consecutive days, each horse carrying a minimum weight of 225 pounds. This is twenty pounds less than was carried last year. Each horse must cover the daily course in not less than nine hours and not more than eleven hours. Last year the maximum time was twelve hours. The ride is for the American Mounted Service Cup, the Arabian Horse Club Medal aud ,750 in cash prizes. The lioard of sponsors, of which Wayne Dinsmore , of Chicago is chairman, includes the National Steeplechase and Hunt Association, the Thoroughbred Endurance Test Club of Kentucky, the Horse Association of America, the Morgan Horse Club, the , Halted States Department of Agriculture, the American Remount Association and the Arabian Horse , Club of America.
