MORVICH IN TEE HALL OF FAME KENTUCKY DERBY FAVORITE JOINS DOMINO COLIN AND ANDHIS HIS HIGHNESS AS ONLY AMERICAN HORSES TO TOWIN WIN OVER f 100000 AS TWOYEAROLDS Whether or not Morvich will win the Kentucky Derby is the allabsorbing topic of the day not only in racing circles but generally throughout the breadth and length of this country and Canada as well Saturday will tell the tale However no matter what the future may hold for Morvich one thing is certain nothing that may happen can rob him of his pastNot glorious past Not only did Morvich retire undefeated as a twoyearold but gained fame and renown as the fourth horse in American turf history to win in excess of 100000 during his first year HighnessDomino of racing The other three were Domino Colin and His Highness Domino is the largest winner of the four and stands far in advance or all American twoyearolds with the imposing total of 170890 to his credit That splendid horse the speed marvel of his day was fortunate in that most of the big stakes he won as a two yearold were at their meridian in value valueColin Colin a grandson of the great Domino followed in the footsteps of his illustrious rela ¬ tive and swept everything before him in 1907 when he won twelve xnces and 131007 as a twoyearold He was never defeated and ranks as one of the greatest of American thoroughbreds of all times timesHis His Highness a son of The IllUsed Princess was the first twoyearold in American turf history to enter the charmed circle of winners of over 100000 He achieved that dis ¬ tinction in 1891 two years before the advent of Domino His twoyearold winnings amounted to 106960 and were made possible chiefly by victory in the second richest Futurity ever run in the history of that valuable turf fixture The Futurity that year was worth 61675 to the winner winnerWhen When Morvich appeared on the racing horizon early in 1921 and won six races of minor importance and small values before going to Saratoga and later to Maryland for richer prises no one realized that the Californiabred colt would not only retire undefeated but gain additional fame and glory by being the fourth twoyearold in American turf history to win in excess of 100000 Such however is Morvichs record a truly remarkable one considering his modest beginning What the future holds for him remains to be seen There is a golden harvest before him Another such triumphant year as ne enjoyed in 1921 rill place the son of Runnymedc in a position to dethrone the mighty Man o War as the largest moneywinner on the American turf Be that as it may nothing can add to or detract from his brilliant twoyearold record which is here presented together with the twoyearold achievements of Domino Colin and His Highness DOMINO br h 1891 by Himyar Mannie
