LATONIA9 S GREA TEST MEETING CLOSE TO A HALF MILLION DOLLARS DISTRIBUTED IN STAKES AND PURSES E. P. WHITNEY TEE LARGEST WINNER-- - RECORD-BREAKING ATTENDANCE Latonia has provided for a great number of years a golden harvest for owners of thoroughbred horses. This year is an exception, but a pleasing exception. The harvest has been greater than ever before. During the twenty-nine days of racing, from June 6 to July 8 inclusive, there were "03 races decided and the impressive sum of 51,810 distributed in stakes and purses, the daily average reaching the high figures of 5,5SS. In addition to eleven established stake fixtures, the 1922 spring and summer Latonia meeting was distinguished by the decision of the 0,000 added Kentucky Special, a race designed to bring together the star three-year-olds of the year and which accomplished its purpose and attracted to the Kenton County course one of the largest crowds that ever witnessed a horse race in Kentucky. It was conceeded on all sides that the meeting just closed was the best and most prosperous ever held at "Fair Latonia." Of the owners sharing in the golden harvest H. P. Whitney was the largest winner with 9,CG8 to his credit. J. Livingston was second with 9,775, W. Perkins third with 7,114, while T. C. McDowell with 9,790, D. Breckinridge 5,935, D.
