Won driving; second and third the ! same. BELMON was off forwardly nnd. saving ground when entering the stretch, took the lead and, keeping it, gamely outfinished FLIBBERTYGHJBET in the final drive. The latter was a prominent con- tender all the way and made a game finish under a weak ride. JOSEPH BRANT steadily improved his position and was wearing the two leaders down in the closing strides. PURL began slowly and closed an immense gap. JOCK SCOT, under slight restraint in the early running, moved up menacingly at the eighth post, but tired near the end. DUCKS. AND DRAKES, off forwardly, was taken under restraint after rounding the first turn and saved to the stretch, then wore PENNON down and, passing him, won going away. PENNON slipped through next to- the rail on the backstretch and raced into a long lead, but was unable to withstand the winners challenge. SEA TAG set the early pace and had no mishaps, but tired in the stretch. CORK ELM began slowly and closed an immense gap. I! ILLY GIBSON was hard ridden all the way. BLUE HAWK, showing decided improvement under a good ride, raced under slight restraint until in the final eighth, where he rushed into the lead and won with speed in reserve. PAY DEAR began slowly, but gradually improved her position and outfinished EL DORADO in the final drive. The latter set a fast early pace and saved ground on all the turns, but tired in the final sixteenth. ROCK BOTTOM rushed into the lead when turning out of the backstretch, but quit after going three-quarters. OSPREY was in close quarters next to the inner rail. TANGERINE was badly outrun for the first half mile, but gained steadily afterward and was wearing THIMBLE down in the closing strides. QUECREEK raced on the inside for the entire race and finished gamely. LEFFARE closed up ground and finished resolutely. WRAITH ran well throughout ALEX H. tired in the stretch. TOIL ran poorly. LITTLE ammttc suffered from early interference, but finished fast when clear in the stretch. VALKNTIA ran a good race all the way. Won handily; second and third driving MYSTIC, after racing in closest pursuit to the stretch, took the lead in the last eighth and held THE CLOCKMENDER safe at the end. THE CLOCKMENDER was a forward contender throughout and made a fast and game finish. JOHN MORRILL lacked early speed and was repeatedly interfered with in the first half mile, but closed a big gap in the last quarter. THRILLER raced wide throughout and ran a good race. UTAH ran out on the first turn and was rushed to the front on the backstretch, but tired after going three -quarters. GRACE FOSTER raced well. ZENNOTTA set the pace briefly, but quit in the final quarter. FEIGNED ZEAL was hard ridden, but was unable to improve her position.
