QUINCY STABLE FOR 1923 Twenty-Two Horses in "Winter Quarters at Aqueduct Track. Triancr James Fitzsimmons Also Has Nine. Horses Belonging to Other Owners In Ills Care at Queens County Track. When the old Gravcsend track was sold to a building development company and the thoroughbreds were crowded out it marked the passing of one of the most popular of winter training quarters. There was a considerable colony that remained faithful to Gravescnd until they were dispossessed, but Aqueduct was ready for them and with few exceptions they moved over to the other tracli. To make it take the place of Graves-end many changes were made until now it is an ideal spot to winter and the track surface is even better than Gravesend in its best days for the winter exercises. Superintendent Brennan has met the requirements of the colony by enclosing several of the stables ; kitchens have been built and quarters put up for the men until every comfort is at hand. There are 150 qf the stalls in use at the present time and ample accommodation for others that are expected during the cold weather. Many of the horses have been out every day cantering and Aqueduct will probably show as many horses for early racing as any other of the northern winter quarters. LEADING STABLES AT AQUEDUCT. Among those in the Aqueduct winter quarters are James Fitzsimmons with the Quincy Stable horses, as well as those of other owners ; Charles Stonehams string in the care of A, J. Goldsborough, who ajso has some for other sportsmen ; Frank M. Taylor, R. O. Miller, John Whalen, William Egan. W. J. Spiers, Arthur Carter, J. McDonald, J. Williams and several others. Of these the most important strings is that of James Fitzsimmons. The Quincy Stable lot is headed by Captain Alcock, the only horse to win both the Bowie and the Pimlico Cup. Altogether Fitzsimmons has thirty-one horses in his care. Of these twenty-two are the property of the Quincy Stable, while the others are those of the Dosoris Stable, H. W. Maxwell and S. L. Jenkins.
