EMMA WILLIAMS forced the early pace, but began to tire after racing a half and, going wide, just outlasted HOREB. MARGARET ELNORA quickly outran RUNLEIGH and after rounding the last turn drew into a commanding lead and under a mild hand ride held her opponents safe through the stretch. MAD NELL gained steadily after leaving the three-eighths post, but raced somewhat wide in the stretch and was easily second best. BRIAR SWEET, from a slow beginning, closed a big gap and, saving ground turning for home, finished fast. RUNLEIGH tired trying to keep up with the winner, ne was favored by the going. MISS EMMA G.. on the inside all the way and coming fast through the stretch, forced the winner to a mild drive. RUBY was always close to the leader, but was carried to the middle of the track on the last turn. DR. WEDDING PRINCE, showing excellent speed, permitted INSURANCE to st the pace for a half, then easily dashed to the front and was under mild restraint throughout, winning as his rider pleased. LONE PINE, far back in the early stages and on the outside, moved up rapidly after going a half, found an opening on the inside turning for home and hung on gamely in the final drive. WILLOW TREE made up much ground in the last half and was rapidly wearing down LONE PINE for second place. RESTFUL was badly outrun in the early stages and made up some ground. INSURANCE ran well for a half under sufferance, then tired badly. EYE BRIGHT was well beaten after going five furlongs. Won easily; second and third driving. Taking advantage of a ridiculously slow pace, jockey Edwards, after getting ALL OVER straightened out in the home stretch, moved into a commanding lead and was never thereafter in danger. GRIFFIN evidently had waiting orders with PAULA SHAY and made the error of restraining her back of the pacemaker too long. She made a strong bid in the stretch, but could not overtake the winner. SPREAD EAGLE was another victim of waiting orders. GORMLEY took him back going to the first turn and kept him under a choking pull for five-eighths and when let down he could not gain. The others were close up for a short distance, but tired thereafter. Scratched 858G8 Ebb Tide, 102; 8597GCoeur de Lion, 95. Overweight Tangerine, 3 pounds. QAAfi SIXTH RACE 1 1-16 Miles. HYANPOM, well ridden by little McHugh, who understands him perfectly, moved up fast midway of the back stretch and. racing wide, assumed command entering the stretch, but tired slightly in the run home and just lasted. CRUZERN, outrun early and somewhat messed about, came around his rivals on the turn and finished with a belated rush. He might have won in a few more strides. LITTLE CLAIR forced the early pace and saved ground all the way, but was in the deep going in the last eighth, stumbling twice and barely lasting for third position. COEUR DE LION was slow to begin, but made up ground on the outside on the upper turn, appeared the winner an eighth out, hut tired in the closing strides. EASTER BELLS opened up a long lead from a fast start, looked an easy winner entering the stretch, but tired badly from the excessive early use.
