WILL REOPEN IN DECEMBER Keeney Park Will Then Inaugu ¬ rate Stake Program Presi ¬ dent of Club Promises BAYARD Fla April 1 Keeney Park will have another meeting next December with increased purses and a program of stakes This was announced Saturday just before the close of the tracks first meeting by president Frank A Keeney KeeneyMr Mr Keeney said the initial undertaking had been quite satisfactory both from a racing and a financial viewpoint His statement in full follows followsOn On behalf of the Florda Jockey Club I desire to express deep gratitude and ap ¬ preciation for the splendid cooperation given by the merchants and citizens of Jackson ¬ ville and St Augustine in our efforts to re ¬ store thoroughbred racing in northern Florida and which has enabled us to give the people a season of high class clean sport The1 success that has attended the initial venture will spur us on to greater achievements in the future when we hope to make Keeney Park one of the Souths leading amusement centers centersWe We also are indebted to the horsemen and the press of the country for their willingness to cooperate We are planning a fall meet ¬ ing to open about the middle of December dates for which will be announced in due time There will be a substantial increase in purse values and the offering of quite a number of valuable stakes
