# - s ILLUSTRIOUS BEN BRUSH Ben Brush, winner of the Kentucky Derby in 1896, though small in stature, proved a giant on the turf in his racing days, while his stud achievements earned for him front rank among American sires. He raced through three seasons, starting in forty races of which he won twenty-five, being unplaced but five times. If he had never sired any other horse than the illustrious Broomstick, his fame would have been everlasting. Aside from that marvelous racer and progenitor of high class horses — Broomstick is still living, being now 29 years old — Ben Btush gave to racing such notable horses as Delhi, Sweep, Lady Amelia, Wild Thyme, Trance, Gretna Green, Dalesman, Von Tromp, Sweeper and others. Truly a wonderful record. * 1
