HAMILTON MEETING BEGINS Salisbury Purse Attracts Fast FastField Field for Stellar Event Eventof of Inaugural Day HAMILTON Ont June 23 Racing on the major circuit of Canada shifts to the course of the Hamilton Jockey Club on Tuesday This term promises to provide some of the best racing to be seen in the Dominion this season This can be attributed to the fact that every available stall of which there are over COO is occupied and among the horses on the ground are the pick of the Canadian handicap division divisionSince Since last fall preparations for the meet ¬ ing at hand have been in the making and all that is needed to make the meeting one of the most successful since prewar clays is weather conditions Painters have been at work for several weeks to freshen up the local plant whicli is considered one of the finest in Canada A new pagoda for the use of the stewards has been erected and with the course in its entirety being thoroughly cleansed and freshened up by a force of track attendants racegoers are sure to be pleased with the surroundings as well as with the racing for the next seven days Another feature that is certain to please is the turf racing One event a day will be staged over the turf course here whicli is the only one on the North American continent continentFor For the inaugural day of the meeting a splendidly arranged program has been scheduled and of the seven numbers the Salisbury Purse at a mile and onesixteenth is the bright and particular event of the clay This will be fifth on the card Among the starters named are Sir Harry from the Sea ¬ gram Stable Mrs K E Hitts Sunvir Brother Rank from the H C Hatch outfit H C Gcenans Friar Cliff R R Mackays Brilliant Diamond the Ascot Stables Light View and Wellet from the W L Brodie barn barnFor For a supplementary feature the local or ¬ ganization supplies the Mountain Valley Plate a test of five furlongs for the better grade youngsters The Juvenile Purse the introductory event of the day and the Mount Hope Purse for horses foaled in the Domin ¬ ion of Canada are the most attractive of the other offerings offeringsRacing Racing begins each day at 230 p m day ¬ light saving time Special trains will handle crowds from distant points and it is ex ¬ pected that a very large gathering will be on hand daily
