TOM P HAYES AMONG MISSING LOUISVILLE Ky May 4 A man who played an important part in the history ot the Kentucky Derby will be missing from the crowd that visits Churchill Downs to ¬ morrow Tom P Hayes who furnished Donerail 1913 winner Layson which fin ¬ ished third to Agile and Rams Horn in 1905 and who saddled Head Play for the 1933 race has gone to the great beyond No popular or more efficient trainer was to be found anywhere in his day Mr Hayes never missed a running of the classic if it was possible for him to be here He died at his home at Lexington last August Still an ¬ other to be missing will be William Billy Walker Walker a negro was astride Baden Baden in 1877 and last year his mem ¬ ory of that battle with Leonard and King William was still fresh Walker during his last years made Louisville his home and never missed a running of the Derby
