NEAR RECORD CROWD Colonel Winn and Associates Expect Tremendous Attendance Eeports of Transportation Com panies Indicate Many Specials Speeding to Louisville LOUISVILLE Ky May 4 One of the largest Derby day crowds in many years will see the classic at Churchill Downs here Saturday afternoon if the reports of pas ¬ senger agents of railroads entering Louis ¬ ville are any indication All roads are run ¬ ning additional trains and are putting on extra and special equipment to take care of their Derby reservations which are said to exceed any orders they have had in fivo years yearsThe The Chesapeake and Ohio has been run ¬ ning two special trains a day here from the East every day since Wednesday and Fri ¬ day and Saturday the George Washington the C Os fast train was scheduled to run in two sections The private car of Mrs Isabella Dodge Sloane of New York owner of Cavalcade Derby favorite is handled by this line lineThe The two special trains bearing a Washing ¬ ton delegation headed by Postmaster Gen ¬ eral James A Farley was sidetracked at Lexington Friday The party after a short rest moves on here by motor motorThe The C O also handled a special three train crowd from Charleston W Va in which Governor H G Kump of West Vir ¬ ginia was a guest guestThe The Monon Route had scheduled a special fifteen car train in addition to its regular run from Chicago and five of these private cars were set off at French Lick Ind Occupants of these cars also will motor the rest of the way wayThe The Louisville and Nashville road is han ¬ dling many chartered and private cars in addition to their regular and special runs Among those arriving in chartered and pri ¬ vate cars over this line are Charles P Schoper and party from St Louis the B E Buckman Company party from Milwaukee the Hotel New Yorker party in three spe ¬ cial cars from New York the William Hop pel party from Cincinnati the American Rolling Mills party from Middletown Ohio and the Ditzler Color Company party from Detroit DetroitWHITNEYS WHITNEYS CARS CARSAlso Also coming in over the L N line in private cars The Wanderer car of C V Whitney and the Andios car of Mrs Payne Whitney O H Gore of the Miami Jockey Club will head a special car party from Miami MiamiThirtyeight Thirtyeight private cars are being han ¬ dled by the B O railroad Heading its list of bookings is a sixcar train from De ¬ troit headed by J E Kirby executive of the Chicago Duluth and Georgian Bay Steam ¬ ship Company The B O also will ac ¬ commodate the private car Marco Polo which bears Mark Hanna state racing com ¬ missioner of Michigan and his party as well as the Lynnewood private car of J E Widener Philadelphia turfman turfmanThe The B O in addition is bringing spe ¬ cial trainloads from Baltimore Kansas City St Louis Dayton Ohio and intermediate points The Baltimore delegation is headed by the son of Mayor Jackson while in the Kansas City group is a party of fifty com ¬ prising the Margaret Barber Derby day tour The Southern railway is running extra equipment on regular trains from Atlanta Chattanooga and other southern points pointsMuch Much activity also is reported from the airport here Bowman Field Madeline Johnson landed her Fairchild after a trip from Atlanta while shortly afterwards Del bert Turner landed his Stinson from Kan kakee 111 bringing with him radio tech ¬ nicians for broadcasting the Derby W Boyd Dallas owner and pilot and Harold Law from Jefferson City Mo were other early air arrivals arrivalsPlanes Planes of the American Airways and other lines came in hourly bearing Derby visitors from almost every section of the country
