Weisenheimer Carries C E Davison Silks to Victory in Grant Park Purse at Sportsmans Doublrab Second Court Dance Third in Feature 1 Tuloma Disqualified DisqualifiedCICERO CICERO 111 May 7 Clarence E Davi sons Weisenheimer who received much the worst of it in the Dearborn Handicap last Saturday finally crashed the winners circle at Sportsmans Park when he accounted for the six and onehalf furlongs allowance race which was the best offering on the card At the finish of that event which was known as the Grant Park Purse the gelded son of Wise Counsellor led Frank Campagnas Doublrab by three lengths as he was timed in 125 over a racing strip classified as slow after the recent rains To those who supported him as he scored his second vic ¬ tory of the year Weisenheimer returned a mutuel of 12 12Mrs Mrs Emil Denemarks Court Dance fin ¬ ished third a length behind Doublrab and a half a length in advance of the favored Talked About That son of The Porter who races for Mrs J F Waters was in the first flight in the early stages of the race but had little speed in the final drive driveCOURT COURT DANCE BBEKS FIRST FIRSTCourt Court Dance took the lead out of the gate but Andy Clutter lost no time in sending Doublrab up to contest the issue with the Denemark mare He overtook her before the first turn was reached and the two raced together for a while until Court Dance gave way and Weisenheimer was in stride Around the turn into the back stretch the Wise Counsellor gelding had dead aim on Doublrab who had taken over when Court Dance faltered He finally overhauled the Campagna representative around the final turn for home and drew away to accom ¬ plish his score in the drive down the front lane laneWhile While it was Weisenheimers first victory at this meeting he is an old favorite at this course During the fall meeting of 1940 he rang up five straight victories over this halfmiler without dropping a decision decisionThe The third race a six and onehalf furlongs test for threeyearolds of the 1500 variety was marred by a disqualification when the stewards ordered the number of J Oldhams OldhamsContinued Continued on fifth page
