Mist o Gold Out Of Derby Running RunningFever Fever Returns Following BlowOut Bob Murphy and Dark Jungle Will Start StartBULLETIN BULLETIN BULLETINCHURCHILL CHURCHILL DOWNS Louisville Ky April 30 Lucas B Combs Dark Jungle an early scratch from todays one mile Derby Trial worked be ¬ tween races and was sent a mile and an eighth in 158 handly on the muddy track The brown colt went the quarter in 24 threeeighths in 36 half mile in 49 five eighths in 102 six furlongs in 116 seveneighths in 130 and a mile in 143 Both owner Combs and trainer John M Goode expressed satisfaction with the trial and said the colt will start in the Derby on Saturday barring unforeseen devel ¬ opments CHURCHILL DOWNS Louisville Ky April 30 While the ninth running of the all important one mile Derby Trial over a muddy track held the center of the stage here today announcements of the definite withdrawal from the Kentucky Derby field of one of the strongest contenders shipped from the East and the addition to the line ¬ up of a colt who had been considered lack ¬ ing Derby stature served to keep interest in Saturdays 100000 mile and a quarter classic at fever pitch pitchMrs Mrs Vera S Braggs Mist o Gold an Eastern threeyearold colt brought here to run in Saturdays Derby was declared out of the race after a blowout this morn ¬ ing served to aggravate a very slight fever the colt had developed while en route from New York According to trainer Jim Healy Mist o Golds temperature was slightly above normal upon his arrival at Churchill Downs last Saturday The fever disap ¬ peared but returned within an hour fol ¬ lowing the blowout For a short time it registered 104 degrees but it had receded somewhat this afternoon afternoonMrs Mrs Bragg Agrees on Withdrawal WithdrawalMrs Mrs Bragg informed via phone in New York of the colts condition immediately agreed with her husband Thomas Bragg to withdraw her standardbearer The sportswoman said she would cancel her proposed trip to Louisville although her husband plans to remain for the race raceOf Of the Easternraced Derby hopefuls Mist o Gold and Foxcatcher Farms Hamp den and King Ranchs Assault were con conContinued Continued on Page ThirtyOne
