I CHARLES SAKBORN Trainer of the David Ferguson stable 806 Murphy Ariel Ace John Sabo Head Fergusons Detroit Stable Blue Scot and Buck Weaver Top Juveniles Motor City Owner Will Race at Meet MeetFAIR FAIR GROUNDS Detroit Mich May 21 Charles Sanborn the rotund and successful trainer for the locallyowned David Fergu ¬ son Stable arrived today with the seven thoroughbreds he will campaign during the spring and summer meeting which opens here next Saturday May 25 Included in the band that Sanborn bedded down is a trio of threeyearolds Bob Murphy Ariel Ace and John Sabo all of whom are rated as top performers of the age division divisionStill Still another threeyearold in the ship ¬ ment is Blue Scot a son of Blue Larkspur and Happy Flag who will make his first appearance under silks at the impending Motor City session Buck Weaver a better thanaverage twoyearold Gypsy Lea and Marcella K also were assigned quarters along with their betterregarded stable mates With the single exception of Mar ¬ cella K who races for R W Atha of Mt Pleasant Mich the balance of the stable is to campaign here under the popular colors of Ferguson prominent Detroit manu ¬ facturer facturerBob Bob Murphy a wellconformed son of Petrose and Miss Gallahad is the star of the Ferguson group and he is remembered for his game victory in the 1946 renewal of the mile and an eighth Arkansas Derby Bob Murphy was then sent to Louisville and he gave a very good account of him ¬ self in the Kentucky Derby finishing seventh in the rich stake Seventeen started in the Louisville test and Bob Mur ¬ phy reached the finish in advance of such worthy performers as Pellicle Perfect Bahrain Rippey winner of the Derby Trial Alworth Marine Victory and Wee Admiral among others othersWon Won Four in Row at Oaklawn Last Fall FallAriel Ariel Ace reached peak form at Hot Springs last year and won four straight en ¬ gagements at the Spa track Although Sanborn felt that Ariel Ace was primarily a sprinter he started the son of Ariel and War Sweet by Man o War in the Arkansas and the colt held sway until reaching the final furlong of the stake bowing by less than three lengths to his stablemate Bob Murphy and Cid Play who wound up second secondBuck Buck Weaver has started but three times won and then finished second and third respectively The youngster has trained splendidly according to Sanborn and he may prove one of the top contenders for twoyearold honors during the Motor City meeting Marcella K visited the winners circle at Oaklawn as did Gypsy Lee who also raced rather impressively at Louisville LouisvilleIn In the meantime Sanborn is giving his charges a careful prep and he will an ¬ nounce the signing of a rider within a short time At present the Ferguson conditioner is dickering with several members of the local jockey colony for their services during the 49day local season
