Seek Perjury Charges Against Witnesses in California Case CaseLOS LOS ANGELES Calif June 3 Aroused by a direct conflict in sworn testimony given before the California Horse Racing Board yesterday in the case of Jack Skelly former jockey and now a trainer under suspension chairman Loyd Wright re mjested the attorneygenerals office to make a thorough investigation of the mat ¬ ter with a view to bringing perjury charges against one or more of the witnesses witnessesSkelly Skelly appeared before the board on charges of concealing the real ownership of a horse and conduct detrimental to rac ¬ ing Appearing against him was Marvin Garrett a Long Beach businessman who claimed that he had put Up 128225 with Skelly for a half interest in the horse Laguna B claimed at Del Mar in 1947 for 2500 in the name of Mrs B M Pecora According to Garretts story Skelly never t would have the horse registered under their name and eventually Garrett went to the Santa Anita stewards with his complaint After Skelly had paid him 2750 for a re ¬ lease of all claims Garrett signed a paper retracting the charges and asking that they be dismissed but the racing board re ¬ fused to reinstate Skelly without a hearing hearingSkelly Skelly his wife and the latters mother Mrs Pecora in whose name Laguna B had been claimed all told stories directly in conflict with Garrett resulting in the re ¬ quest by chairman Wright for a perjury I investigation investigationThe The case of Skelly was taken under sub ¬ mission by the board the decision to be announced later
