HO EIGHT followed the early pace of IRISH ROBYN while in hand, and gradually got to the front and held JOHNS BABY safe under even handling. JOHNS BABY made a determined bid to get to the winner but was not good enough. SIR FANAR also challenged in the stretch but failed to get up. BLUE WEASEL made up some ground through the drive. IRISH ROBYN had some speed setting the pace but failed to stay. PILOT MAN flattened out badly. The rest showed little. CHIEF GENOA settled down nicely after breaking well on the outside, moved up gradually making his bid and drew off under handy pressure. SORB engaged BUBS LOVE at the head of the stretch and was best. The latter was hard urged to keep in front early and weakened slightly. AUNT SOPHIE was off poorly, but made up some ground late. POLLYS KNIGHT raced YARDTOWN into defeat, early, drew into a fair lead on the far turn, gave way momentarily to CIRCUIT JUDGE in midstretch and then came again to prevail. HEARTY LAUGH was forced to steady while in close on the far turn, found room next to the rail and finished willingly. CIRCUIT JUDGE moved up to wrest a short lead in the stretch, then "faltered on the money. SOSPIRO lost ground most of the trip. FIDDLIN MAC went evenly. FAIR ARAB had no mishap. TONIGHT saved ground most of the way but lacked an effective rally. WECAN WIN caught tired horses. MAD JOHN dueled with MELMARS U. N. in suicidal fashion, then gave way. JUST BUSTER faltered.
