Three Fillies Nominated For Ohio Derby Renewal RenewalThistleDown ThistleDown Stakes Draws Stay Smoochie Red Baby Little Hunk HunkCLEVELAND CLEVELAND May 13 Nominations for the 27500 Ohio Derby do not close until June 14 but ThistleDown general manager John OKeeffe reports that there are strong indications that one or more fillies will start in the 1 18 miles event on June 21 21I I J Collins Paradisical who won the 1935 edition is the last distaff racer to win the Derby and a filly has not started in the race since it was renewed at Thistle ¬ Down in 1953 1953However However among the early nominations for this years twentyfourth renewal are Dorchester Farms Stay Smoochie winner of the 10000 Oaks Prep at Churchill Downs recently H L Andersons Red Baby and E Rasberrys Little Hunk HunkStay Stay Smoochie who is trained by Jack Prince an exClevelander also captured the Gfurlong Jasmine Stakes at Hialeah this past winter She was sent off as sec ¬ ond choice in the i 116 miles Kentucky Oaks but was blocked in the backstretch and finished fifth fifthShe She has yet to travel the 9 furlong Derby distance but Price feels she has shown every evidence of being able to stay the route and intimates that he is giving serious consideration to starting the filly in ThistleDowns oldest event The 44day ThistleDown meeting opens May 28 and closes July 17
