HARLEMS STAKES. Secretary Nathanson has completed the work of classifying the nominations to the stake events which will be run at Harlem during the coming summer meeting at the Proviso course. In all. counting the Turf Congress Handicap, there have been 520 thoroughbreds named for Harlems fixtures, an average of forty nominations to each event. Among the various nominations, the names of some of the very best horses in America appear, which augurs well for a season of rare sport at the popular west side course. In all there will be thirteen stake races run during the Harlem 6ummer meeting, which opens August 6. The list includes three for I year-olds and upward, two for 3-year-olds, one for 3-year-old fillies, three for 2-year. olds, one for steeplechasers, the Harlem Turf Congress Handicap and two for all aees. These stakes range in distance from 4 1-2 furlongs to 1 3-16 miles. The stakes for all aces will be the only ones of their kind run in Chicago this year. In these races many owners of 2-year-olds have elected to pit their youngsters against the best of the veteran brigade. Among the various 2-year-olds the names of the following appear : Miss Bennett, Queen Dixon. Silverdale. Sinfi, Omdurman, Denman Thompson, Duelist Light Ball, Anxious, and Ciuera, These 3-year-olds are also in the stakes for all ages: All Gold, Advance Guard, The Lady, Yellow Tail, Mr. Brown, Miss Mae Day, Scales, Vain, Lamacuus, Dissolute, Reminder, Sharp Bird, Major Dixon, Prince Plenty and others. The above named will have as contenders the following older horses: Mary, Great Bend. Found, Serrano, Orimar, Meddler, Sly, Georgie, Hermoso, May Beach, and other highly tried animals. Nineteen of the best "timber toppers" in Canada and the United States have been nominated in the steeplechase event. And all throughout the list the class of nominations is of the highest. Each stake is an added money affair and its gross valuation will closely approximate ,310.
