GOSSIP OF THB TPKF The assistant secretary of the New York Jockey Club last Monday wrote to John Morrow of Nash nlle saying that he is not now in tke outlaw class under the ruling against the participants in the CkarUston meeting Morrow WM presiding judge at Charleston and this letter will be laid Before the Western Jockey Club and will entitle him to all racing privileges and he will be one of the judges at Highland Park and Fort Erie this season Charles F McLean for many years judge at La tonia and Oakley race tracks is seriously ill at hia home in Glcmlale Ohio with an attack of la grippe Mr McLean is well known in Cincinnati racing cir ¬ cles and was for many years connected with the Latouia Jockey Club He was in early life a re ¬ porter on the CommercialGazette and is well known among local newspaper men menWinnie Winnie OConnor was again at the head of the winning jockey list for the Oakland track before ho started east This is but natural as he was probably the best boy who was riding regularly there and tfeen he had the mounts from the stable of Green B Morris who was by far the largest winner amomg tke owners Altamax the good son of Maxim gives promise of development into one of the great sires of Cali ¬ fornia Alsono who won recently at Oakland and Maxnic are both sons of Altamax
