: GATHERING OF THE CLANS AT OAKLAND. San Francisco. Cal.. October 2. Bob McGibben. who will, as usual, have charge of the betting ring at Oakland, arrived today from New York. With the report that the exodus of eastern turfmen to California and particularly to San Francisco, will be even more general than has already been Indicated by published reports. McGibben brought applications from F. A. Forsythe aud C. M. Odom for stabling accommodations. Forsythes string will number thirty head. Odom will ship ten horses. J. L. Mc-Giunis is coming with jockeys Notter and Lang. Among prominent layers that will make Oakland their headquarters are Charles Cella, Tom Shaw. Ed McDonald and T. OBrien. "Plunger" MeManus will ship his horses here and with "Chicago" OBrien and "Little Pete" Christensen figure among the most notable bettors. McGibben predicts the decisive defeat of Governor Hughes and says that the money in the hands -of Tom Shaw to be placed on Chanler. is in reality T. D. Sullivans. William Cahill arrived today from Seattle with Smiley Corbett, Security. Rose Qifben. Captain Johu. .Mozart. Argonaut and Hal. These horses, with Voladay. will make up his stable. Ho sold Abbey and Johnstown at Seattle. George P. McNeil got. in from the Oregon fair circuit aud will race part of his stable at California fairs. lie brought Molar. Peggy ONeal. Funny Side. St. Albans, Fury. Mary Dunn aud Titus II. Jockey Mentry :ame with him. Matt Reis is having difficulty In getting sufficient stalls here and may race at Santa Anita after all. He departed for Los Angeles tonight. Jocke3- W. Kelly has gone east to visit relatives at Albany, pending the result of efforts to secure his reinstatement.
