HORSEMEN PETITION FOR B00KMAKING. Louisville. ICy.. October 10. Anticipating strenuous opposition from the State Racing Commission to restoring the bookmakers at the coming Latonia meeting, the horsemen In this section have on their own initiative become active with petitions to be forwarded to the members of the racing commission -nupsting that ther sanction the return -of the bookmakers. The netitions are signed by all the horsemen here and include the names of Baruey Schreiber, T. C. McDowell. Pat Dunne. J. H. Woodford and other prominent turf lights. The petition will be presented by J. H. Woodford, senior member of Woodford and Buckner. who developed Pink Coat. Pink Star. Pinkola and other well-known racers. Mr. Woodford Is also a member of the Kentucky legislature. It Is thought that the petition will carry considerable weight in the matter. Arthur P. Rouse, secretary of the State Racing Commission, who was a visitor here today, announced that a msetlng of the commission will be held In Lexlnxton, Ky on Wednesday next, when the matter of allowing bookmakinc at Latonia -will come up for decision.
