AGENT DID NOT WANT THE RACE. As a heavily supported favorite Jimmy Lane won the steeplechase at Uelmoiit Park Thursday, but s greater lluke never came off in horse racing. Agent, n. disreputably bad-tempered horse, had him hopelessly beaten and the race easily won. then refused to take it. As he set sail for the last jump he had a quarter of a mile over Jimmy Lane, whose supporters were as blue as iiidigo. Coming up to the obstacle Kelleher eased his mount up and as a result Agent suddenly turned completely around and ran the other way. lu a jiffy the Jimmy Lane backers began to yell encouragement to jockey Allen, who went to the whip. Kelleher had time, however, to turn Agents head toward the jump again, but tho horse repeated his mean trick, and before Kelleher could get him straight again Jimmy Lane and Yama Christy had cleared the hedge and went, on to finish lirst and second respectively. Agent then took the jump neatly and-got third money. Agent has done xuch tricks before and has always been regarded as a poor betting proposition.
