OUTSIDERS IN FRONT AT WASHINGTON. i Washington, D. C. October 11. The attendance Ibis afternoon was by far the largest of the meeting. The association provided an excellent card and. despite the fact that the opening dash was robbed of much of its interest by the withdrawal of Havre and Racine Belle, an exciting contest resulted, in which Cheek was returned winner over the l to 1, favorite. Takahira. Giles was the only winning favorite of the afternoon. The steeplechase , furnished a complete upset. Southwest, a half-bred ly Key West, beating his opponents off in a canter. Brother Frank, the good thing of the race, went wrong during the running and nulled up very laine.
