SPECIAL HORSE TRAIN TO KENTUCKY. Louisville. Ky.. August 23. — The Kentucky State Fair Association, unable to give 30 purses for the running races scheduled for this fall at Douglas Park, has reduced them to 23, to come within the appropriation allowed for the s|M rt. The secretary, .1. W. Newman, decided not to reduce the tirst money of the purses, and the winner will gel 9109, the second and third horses standing the 3 re dmtion. The races are attracting considerable attention tills fall, for the reason that they will have as contestants a better bit of horses than ever before raced at a fair here. Secretary Ryman II. Davis received a telegram from Col. Matt J. Winn today staling that he would be here not later than September 2 or 3. and that the eastern end of the coming meeting at Churchill Downs has shaped up nicely. A special trala will leave Saratoga immediately at the clone of the summer meeting there boUnd for this elty, and it is estimated that not less than 390 horses will come to Kentucky oh It.
