Merry England was for several years the best Canadian sprinter, good enough to measure strides with the lust anywhere. Pirate Polly was an excellent illy and Stanley lay, when at his best, was a bigb-claSS race horse. Fllioott and Simcoe were both horses of great speed and. altogether, Michaelmas form has been such that it requires a youngster of more than average form to carry off its honors.
