ROYAL CAPTIVE ran prominent].- from the start, wore SELWIK down in the first half and. standing the final drive gamely, held EMPEROR WILLIAM safe through the last sixteenth. EMPEROR WILLIAM was away poarij and was rushed through the worst going for the first half and taken wide into the Stretch, then finished fast and should have won. SELWIK set a fast early pace and had no mishaps, but tired slightly near the end. DUQCE8NE went well. CHAPULTBPBC was given a listless ride. MERRICK shewed speed, hut seems to be in poor form.
