PRINCE PALATINE BRINGS RECORD PRICE PRICEA A London dlspit Pllkiiigtou has sold his great race horse Prince Palatine to 1 B Joel for the record price of 250000 The highest price ever paid previously for a thoroughbred was 180000 by M E Blanc for the Triple Crown winner Flying Fox A con ¬ dition of the present sale Is that Prince Palatine is to be retained lu England for future stud service Prince Palatine is a fiveyearold bay horse by the late King Edwards Persimmon Lady Lightfoot and is said to be a model of equine symmetry and K wer When a twoyearold he won three races out of six starts Ixing victorious in the Bedfont Plate at Kemptou Park Donnington Castle Maiden Plate at Newbury and the Imperial Produce Plate at Kemptou Park As a threey earold he started in live races and won two the Gordon Stakes at Goodwood and the Doneaster St Leger Last year he ran seven times and won four taking the Ascot Gold Cup Kclipse Stakes at Sandown Park Don caster Cup and the Jockey Club Stakes at New ¬ market thus landing two of the much coveted ten thousand pounders This year he has started but twice winning the Coronation Cup at Epsom and for the second time the Gold Cup ut Ascot It was iu this latter race that the American colt Tracery was thrown by a suffragist when leading by six lengths
