EL MAIIDI took the lead at once and, sprinting away from his opponents, set a fast pace and, hanging on well in the stretcli drive, outstayed CASTARA. Tlie latter ran in closest pursuit from the start and finished gamely, but tired in the last sixteenth. BEAU PERE finished fast, but driving to outstay NO MANAGER. The latter closed a gap and finished close up. LAURA began slowly, but gained steadily and finished resolutely. BEHEST closed a big gap in the last quarter. 16 pT O " SECOND RACE About 2 Miles. SONG OF VALLEY ran well, but tired and just j lasted long enough to outstay SUPREME. The latter closed a gap and finished fast.
