The latter was badly outrun early and tired after closing up „n the leader after entering the homestretch. KED-DEST easily disposed of PURITAN LASS in the last eighth. THE SPIRIT was outrun for the first half and was waited with until straightened out in the homestretch, then closed up in resolute fashion and got up to win in the final strides. GENTLEWOMAN set a stiff pace, but tired badlv right at the end. ENVER BEY quit after racing well for a half mile. MUY BUENA ran well. GORDON tired. The winner was entered for ,000; no bid. The latter began slowly and came wide on the turns, but finished fast and wearing the winner down. EASTER LILY finished well and outstayed the tiring WALL STREET. HAROLD set the pace to the stretch and came again in the last sixteenth, but finished driving to outstay MASTER JIM. The latter dropped back at the eighth post, then finished fast. CUTTYHUNK closed a big gap and so did BILLIE BAKER. The winner was entered for 00; no bid. TITO forced the pace for five-eighths and outstayed BUDWEISER in the final drive. The latter ran well, but his rider was too light to do him justice in the heavy going.
