BELMONT PARK STEEPLECHASE STAKES NEW YORK N Y March 15 The Westchcster Racing Association announces five crosscountry stakes to close Monday March 28 with racing secretary A McL Earlocker EarlockerAt At the head of the features is The Rrook Steeple ¬ chase to which the sum of 10000 has been added making it one of the richest steeplechase events run anywhere The name of every jumper in train ¬ ing should appear on the lists when they are closed The Rrcok Steeplechase will be one of the out ¬ standing features of the autumn meeting which will be studded with attractive contests on the flat The Rrook Steeplechase distance will be two am onehalf miles and 2000 will go to second 1000 to third and 500 to fourth There will be a sub ¬ scription fee of 25 and out or this 250 will be appropriated for the purchase of a cup to go to the winner The events to be decided during the spring meeting include the Grand National Handicap at three miles witli 3500 added the International Handicap about two miles with 2000 added the New York which will be rim tinder penalty and allowance conditions over the same distance with v200 added and the Meadowbrook a haiuli cap over the about two and onehalf miles course These are all fouryearolds and over The values of all these stakes have been in ¬ creased materially In the Grand National the added money formerly was 2500 and the Inter ¬ national Meadowbrook and New1 York 1500
