Apprentice Hawksworth Helps Save Horses in Detroit Fire FireDETROIT DETROIT Mich t June 17 As yet ap ¬ prentice William Hawksworth has not re ¬ ceived crowd adulation for his riding skill but the 19yearold lad a native of Argyle Mich incidentally got a big hand for his efforts in saving horses during the three hour fire that razed two barns at the Fair Grounds during early morning hours hoursHawksworth Hawksworth is contracted to E Jock Wheatley whose horses were quartered in barn 10A razed along with barn 10 and after helping to lead out his employers horses the youngster gave a hand to othsrs engaged in saving thoroughbreds from the burning buildings Heedless of the raging inferno the cries of dying horses and the neighing of others stampeding this lad along with others who took the calamity in stride was a hero There were others too They as well as Hawksworth passed it off as in the days work and exemplified the love of the thoroughbred that keeps these men around a race track
