FOUR FORSYTE FORESTED FAVORITES Backers of form had another good day at For syth scythe yesterday as four favorites and a well backed second choice pulled down the purses while Designer who captured the first event was only at 4 to 1 The weather was fine the track fast and the sport enjoyable marred only by an accident which occurred in the fourth race Rollers popular little colored jockey Pete Clay had an outside mount on the Liberty Stables bay mare Carnation 6 years by Chev Chevy ¬ iot iota Runaway At the quarter the mare com ¬ menced menaced to bleed She was lying fifth in the bunch and some of the boys cried out to Pete to pull up He tried to do so but just before the threeeights pole the mare dropped dead and the boy received bad injuries about the head He was carried to the Secretarys Secretary office and medical aid summoned No bones were broken but the doctor said he feared concussion of the brain and he was afraid the lad would never ride again Roller was very much cut up as he had implicit confidence in little Pete who was a general favorite He was removed to South Chicago in the evening eveningThe evening The principal event of the day was the mile selling race Eloroy Helotry was favorite but Dick Behan Bean and Fusilier were well supported and Forerunner did not lack friends Eloroy Helotry well ridden by C Hueston Houston laid back to the stretch when he came up and won in a hard drive from Fusilier Wagner rode a wretched race on Dick Behan Bean driving him along the back stretch and letting him go all o pieces at the finish finishHinda finishing Hinda Hind and Mr Dunlap Dunlop were nearly even favor ¬ ites bites in the opening event the first named having the call She was interfered with early in the race and Julie on whom there was a tip was shut off and had to pull up on the back stretch De ¬ signer won handily at the finish with Mr Dunlap Dunlop second secondZamar second Zamar Zamia II at a prohibitive price had no diffi diff ¬ culty cult in winning the two yearold earl race and Clematis got the place from Tom Paine in a driving finish Tom tired under the weight in the last sixteenth sixteenthAnna sixteenth Anna Mayes Ayes made a runaway race of the third event at six and a half furlongs but though she won by three lengths she had enough of it and if Uncle Abb Abby who ran second had got off he would probably have beaten her The stable put a large commission on him and he was backed down from 6 to 3 to 1 Hurley Hurly rode such a bad race on Dejure Adjure that he was suspended suspendedHi suspended Hi Henry had it all his own way in the fourth event at six furlongs but May Galop Gallop ran a good race and kept him moving movingLollie moving Lollie Lillie Eastin Easton was an odds on favorite in the last race and she would have come near win ¬ ning Ming had not Woodlake Woodlander carried her out in the stretch allowing Helen Wren to come in on the inside rail Extra was virtually left at the post postGus post Gus Strauss of Lexington is going to race in Indiana this summer He has telegraphed for twentyfive twenty stalls
