MORE INDIANA RECORDS FALL FALLThree Althea Three Indiana records were broken at Lake side yesterday The footing was springy and fast in spite of the high wind which was blow ¬ ing King Hi Henry clipped 14 seconds off the five fur ¬ longs mark Mamie Mammies G 45 seconds from the mile and 70 yards and May Galop Gallop a quarter of a sec ¬ ond bond from the seven furlongs furlongsThe furlongs The attendance was large and the racing of good quality some of the finishes being close It was a bad day for favoritts favorites as Hi Henry in the Owners Handicap was the only one to reward the backers The three last perform ¬ ances dances of the son of Big Henry Cut But were not of a character to warrant his being made favorite or to lead one to expect that he would run such a fast race His recent work made it appear as if he had gone back but there are sometimes surprising revivals That good light weight T Burns distinguished himself by riding three winners and one second His finish on May Galop Gallop in the seven furlong race was an ex ¬ ceptionally captiously good piece of work workMr wormer Mr Dunlap Dunlop and Bon Hur Hour were most fancied in the opening dash The last named off fifth went to the front at once and staying there to the end won handily while Fakir who got away badly was an easy second secondFive second Five pretty fair twoyearolds toeholds went to the post in the second event with Bombardon a slight favorite over Siegfried Sigrid Vanessa off in front led all the way and won by a length and a half The other four had a desperate battle for the place finishing short heads apart apartRubber apart Rubber Neck made the running in the Owners Handicap until they were well straightened out Then Hi Henry went to the front and won galloping by three lengths Remedy got a bad start but was outpaced outpacedLillian outpaced Lillian E and Merry Monarch were equally fancied for the mile and seventy yards with the others at long prices Lillian E was the pace ¬ maker to thejstretch hemstitch where Mamie Mammies G who had been cleverly handled by little Hothersall Others took the lead Lillian E tired and Murphy brought up Merry Monarch Ho could not quite reach Mamie Mammies G who won by a neck with Lillian E three lengths back backThat blackheart That acrobat Dick Behan Bean was the natural favorite for the seven furlongs but he ran a disappointing race Anna Mayes Ayes May Galop Gallop and Ardath Marathi were the contending horses nearly all the way Anna Mayes Ayes led Ardath Marathi by a head in the stretch with May Galop Gallop third Anna Mayes Ayes tired and Ardath Marathi came on looking like a winner at the sixteenth pole Burns brought up May Galop Gallop with a rush and catching Ardath Marathi ten yards from the wire forced Hothersall Others to the whip and just beat him out a nose noseThere inserter There were strong tips out on Feodman Freedman and Starbeam Stream in the last race and though the first named was at one time 40 to 1 ho went to the post at 10 to 1 He ran a wretched race The Rook made the running till fifty yards from home when Fred K collared her and won by a short head headA head A lot of good twoyearolds toeholds have entered for the Juvenile Handicap to be run on June 3 The distance is five furlongs and the value 500 The weights will be announced SaturdayMay Saturday 30
