NEW ORLEANS TWOYEAROLDS TOEHOLDS The advance guard of the 2yearolds of 1898 will soon be in action at Now Orleans Last year some very useful performers Van Ant ¬ werp twerp Millstream Percy F Georgie George C and others that afterwards won over northern courses made their initial essays over the Crescent City track trackThis tactics This year hopeful and partial owners are claiming that the New Orleans class is as good if not better than it was last year and great things are whispered about of the pre paratory purgatory trials of the fiery youngsters soon to challenge their share of attention from patrons of racing It is reported that nearly 100 2year olds are at the track many of which are in a forward condition of training Some of the presumed best at New Orleans will no doubt be reserved for the more important meetings to come later on but there is on the whole a very cheerful prospect of good 2yearold racing there Latest gossip about the young onesv ones says Jake Marklein Marlin Gardners Garners trainer has three far advanced in their work They are a bay colt by Quicklime Satisfaction a bay gelding by St Blaise Blains Viscountess Viscounts and a chestnut filly by Fonso Fonts Rod Leaves All three have been credited with threeeighths in better than38i than38iBennington Bennington Kensington Gardner have a bunch of four of which they expect great things The black filly by Iroquois West Anna and the chestnut filly by Bishop Mollie D have worked three eighths in 38i Besides those they have a par ¬ ticularly inculpably good looking brown filly by Tremont Fremont Gypsy and a bay colt by Soudan Sudan Pastel PastelJ Pastel J J McCafferty is working on the road a chestnut filly by Great Tom Lily B and a bay colt by Bishop Kennebec Keene KennebecF Keene F H Hickok Hick has a youngster in his stable that was caught going a half in almost as good as 50 with about 105 pounds up This is by long odds the best move credited to any 2year old at the New Orleans track Hickoks Hickeys lot in ¬ cludes clues a bay filly by Leonatus Lents Hermitage that is being warmly touted a bay colt by Panique Antique Hannah that is credited with a quarter in 24i a brown colt by Abana Cabana Hindooette Hindmost and a speedy Faustus Faust filly out of Bathinia Actinia BathiniaClint Nationality Clint De Witt Witty has worked a bay colt by DeceiverrSpringtime Deceivers a quarter in 24 24James James Robertson has pinned great hopes on a chestnut colt by Deceiver Oasis that has shown him an eighth better than 12 and threeeighths better than 38 He also has a bay filly by Bradford Jennie Ten Broeck Brock BroeckS BrockS S J Charles has a full sister to Gilray Gila that has shown well A X Donahues Donates chestnut gelding by Farandolo Armadillo Sister Anita has been sent three eighths in 38K Fred Wood is working one by Jim Browns old Faustus Faust sprinter Bobby Beach Risa Rosa K the dam of Dorah Dora Woods Three eighths in better than 37 is credited to this one oneDick comedic Dick Rome has a chestnut filly by Montana Regent Dollikens Dollies that he thinks highly of J F Grefor Reform have a full sister to Panway Anyway jjarginia jargon Bradleys Bradley old campaigner that is a promising filiy filly George Cadwallader Caldwell has a bay colt by Macduff Mac Miss Buford Buffo and a brown colt by Governor Forakor Frankford Miss Dixon and both have shown excellently in their preparation
