THE SUBURBAN AT HAND HANDThe Handheld The Suburban will be decided next Saturday As is annually the case it has been much talked about and much written about and now that the fateful few moments required for its running are so close by it is the leading turf topic of the day An unusual spice of interest has been added at the eleventh hour by the sudden prominence of the speedy western mare Imp and the certainty that her chance of winning the great event is second to that of no other horse engaged The easy way in which she vanquished a lot of the Suburban candidates last Monday makes the mighty Ornaments ability to concede her twentynine twenty pounds decidedly questionable No mare has ever won a Suburban Handicap but Imps great speed and light impost makes it look very much like she is destined to be the first of her sex to add her name to the list of honor adorned by such great names as those of Troubadour Raceland Riceland Salvator Salvatore and Henry of Navarre Navarro NavarreThe Nazareth The starters for the big handicap are expected to be Ornament 131 Ben Holladay Holland 123 On Deck 120 Tillo Till 119 Dr Catlett Cattle 118 Havoc 117 Don dOro115 Peep oDay110 Tragedian 110 Typhoon II 114 Ogden 109 Buela Bulla Lou Bramble 104 Royal Stag 110 Imp 102 and George Keene 95 Some of these may not go and one or two others not named here may be started but practically it is the field that will go to the post and a good one it is
