NOTES OF THE TURF Sundays edition of the Cincinnati Com ¬ mercialTribune Mercator makes the following statement Captain J H Rees who presided so capably in the judges stand at Oakley Ankle the recent meet ¬ ing King was at Latonia Antonia yesterday He is authority for the statement that he has been engaged as presiding judge for the meeting which will be held at Hawthorne Chicago this summer Captain Rees also stated that he has been en ¬ gaged gagged to fill the position by Barney Schreiber one of the promoters of the meeting The meet at Hawthorne will probably follow that of Wash ¬ ington Kingston Park James Caldwell who handled the flag at Oakley Ankle is slated for the startership starters at Hawthorne There is now but little doubt that there will be a meeting at Hawthorne this sum ¬ mer mere Ed Corrigan while here last week an ¬ nounced bounced that the Hawthorne track would run this summer and the engagement of Rees and Caldwell is another straw which shows the way the wind is blowing in Chicago turf circles circlesCharles circles Charles T Patterson has bought of Mrs E F Clay the yearling full sister to Ben Brush This filly is a brown a shade darker than Brush with stripe in her face while Brush has only a small star She is however strikingly like her great brother in conformation and action Col Cool Clay presented the filly when a suckling to his wife and she was sold as Mrs Clays personal property Mr Patterson has also bought of Col Cool W S Barnes the chestnut colt Prince of Melbourne by Bramble Maid of Balgowan Blown by Hindoo Indoor second dam the great mare Ballet by Planet Col Cool Barnes thinks so highly of this colt thathe thatched was anxious for him to bear the name of his farm Thoroughbred Record RecordBonnington Bonnington Bloomington Gardners Garners Dinsmore Inshore is danger ¬ ously lousily sick with an attack of fever and is not expected to live Nabob of the same stable has gone lame and may be unable to race for some time timeFormero informer Formero Former and Sinks other horses engaged in stakes at Washington Park are to be shipped from New York for Chicago Sunday SundayEdward Sunday Edward Fee of Detroit Mich Micah is disposing of his entire stable of horses in training and ready to race raceImp racism Imp is owned at Chillicothe Scilicet O and Chilli Chili cothe clothe is to be illuminated if Imp wins the Su ¬ burban Burbank
