threeeighths Willie Hurtin Hurting sent Ailyar Halyard to the whip soon after reaching the straight but the weight told and Dunnes Dunes colt as also Fontainebleu Containable were soon beaten Batten apparently winning at the last sixteenth was here joined by Frank Bell and only beaten in one of the most exciting of finishes Ailyar Halyard struggled on and ran third Kingrica Ingrid not understanding the game was left at the post while Fatherland and Bloss Loss were quickly outrun outrunGovernor outrun Governor Sheehan delayed the start in the third race by refusing to join his horses at the barrier The quicker his kind is barred the better for racing Loyaletta Loyalty Lucy Belle and Fair Deceiver were quickest away and Lew Blew Williams mare was at once taken to the front by Thorpe and not again headed Lucy Bell won in a tight fit with Sybaris Sybarite who if not pinned in on the rail as he was coming through at the last hundred yards would undoubtedly have won the race Millie M came from the rear and in axlose aloe finish got the third money away from Loyaletta Loyalty Governor Sheehan made up a lot of ground Carrie F ran well up to the entrance to the home stretch but finished absolutely absolutelyMoncreith absolutely Moncreith Noncredit being kicked by Madrilene Marlene at the post Tommy Burns dismounted and the horse being trotted to the judges stand Judge Rees excused him All tots were declared off and a new book made Moncreith Noncredit had opened at 8 to 5 and advanced in price to 13 to 5 while 3 to 5 against him for place might be had After being kicked he bled badly from a wound on the off hind leg The race was a great one Madrilene Marlene led passing the judges stand and was not caught until the last sixteenth Thorpe on Cherry Leaf tried to get through next the rail on the first turn up the back stretch and round ¬ ing King the upper turn but Rose on Nathanson Nathan kept him pinned in At the last sixteenth Cherry Leaf got past Madrilene Marlene but Thorpe at once went hard to work and only by a vigorous ride was he able to beat Nathanson Nathan to the wire With a boy like T Burns up Nathanson Nathan would have won After quite a few moments Judge Rees awarded first place toMadrilene comedienne placing Cherry Leaf second and Nathanson Nathan third The j latter pulled up very lame The presiding judge said At the last sixteenth as Cherry Leaf came to Madrilene Marlene the latter was driven into the fence and the boy Everett stopped riding as who would not Now Thorpe and Rose had been bumping all the way and the
