LEXINGTONS LEXINGTON RACING PROGRAM Just what is contemplated in the racing way at Lexington this fall is thus set forth in the Cincinnati Commercial Tribune of Sunday LoxingtOH Lexington will have a big running meeting beginning September 19 which will run for ten days The meet will be in the nature of a mili mil ¬ tary tarry tournament and will be for the amusement of the 17000 United States soldiers encamped at that point Yesterday J Hull Davidson the manager of the Lexington track was at New ¬ port and he outlined the project We will give four running races each day said Mr Davidson and the purses will be 200 and 150 The meeting will be for the amusement of the United States soldiers en ¬ camped at Lexington and it bids fair to be the biggest affair of its kind ever held in the Blue grass region One thousand dollars will be given to the various regiments of soldiers Be ¬ tween teen races each day battalions and regiments will drill and maneuver in the infield and the prizes will be awarded to the best drilled organ ¬ izations inactions There will also be a race for military officers After each race the purse will be paid in cash to the owner of the winner I expect to have at least two hundred horses at the track and this will be more than plenty Col Cool Jack Chinn Chin will do the starting The meeting will not harm the Newport track the least bit and is not intended to We will operate the auction pools and mutuals mutual in the betting ring and do not expect a bookmaker at the track Secre Sere ¬ tary tarry of War Algor Agora has promised to attend the meeting as will Major General Breckinridge Reckoning Lexington will also give a regular race meeting in November immediately after Latonia Antonia closes her gates This meeting will be continued up to the time of the opening day at New Orleans the weather permitting
