GOSSIP OF THE TURF J H McAvoy Cavy trainer for Colonel Applegate Appellate has entered into an arrangement with George Taylor whereby the veteran jockey will from now until the close of the season ride the horses handled by Mr McAvoy Cavy Sentiment has figured in this engagement Years ago Trainer McAvoy Cavy and Jockey Taylor worked together in a stable In the days of Guttenburg Gutenberg both were in the employ of P J Flynn whose string included among other good performers the one time great horse Young Duke Mr McAvoy Cavy was engagedin engaged I he capacity of trainer for the stable and Tay Stay ¬ lor lord was its jockey Those were the days when the veteran race rider ranked among the foremost knights of the pigskin of the country Inclined to be a good fellow however George subse subset ¬ quently queenly started down hill and finally drifted into the camp of the outlaws Matters have not been coming so well of late for the old jockey as in other days and now his oldtime oldie friend and associate Mr McAvoy Cavy proposes to give him a chance to again catch on Until he arrived here the other day Mr McAvoy Cavy had not seen the veteran jockey since 1892 but he still has confidence in his ability as a rider and ho intends to help him to again get up To that end he has employed him to ride the Applegate Appellate horses the remainder of the season Cincinnati Enquirer
