NOTES OF THE TURF Secretary Hopper is making arrangements for some of the highest type of racing be ¬ fore the close oflhe coffle meeting Workmen have been engaged in getting the steeplechase course in readiness for the jumpers A new water jump has just been completed across the track from the grandstand There are four or five good jumpers now at the track and a num numb ¬ ber beer of others are to come from Chicago and the Canadian circuit Until other trained timber toppers arrive at the track no hurdle or steeplechase races will be put on Secretary Hopper proposes to reduce the danger of acci acc ¬ dents to a minimum by allowing only horses that have been tried at the game to start in any jumprng jumping races that may be given Cincin Cinching ¬ nati Nat Enquirer EnquirerW Enquirer W G Cooke Chicago The Eclipse Course is six furlongs straight and partly down hill Time over it is necessarily always much faster than that made over the other two tracks at Morris Park Six furlongs in 1 08 five and a half furlongs in 103 and five furlongs in 56t being examples The inner course called the Withers mile is an exact mile around The outer or main course is 1 18 miles around The two races you refer to were over the Eclipse Course Races there at six furlongs or less are over this course unless otherwise specified in the conditions conditionsJ conditions J Storey Curtis willship wills his horses in train ¬ ing King and his yearlings to England tomorrow He has had little success here this season and will try to retrieve his losses next season on the English courses It is said that Sydney Paget Page will send Damien Sir Vassar and two others over with the Curtis lot The intention is to start Sir Vassar in some of the late fall jump ¬ ing King events eventsJ events J M Murphy has consigned Buck Massie Massive to Woodard Woodward Shanklin Shackling to ba sold at their Decem Deem ¬ ber beer Lexington sales for stud purposes
